Arusha Birding with visitors from the cold

Just a quick post as the internet is so unreliable at the moment, just to say all is well. After initial confusion with cancelled flights and such like Grandma arrived successfully on Sunday, and N & D arrived trouble free on Tuesday. Since then it's been busy times of paying for safaris and fitting in some birding in a friend's garden, and in Arusha NP yesterday. It was a long day, but lots of fun - always a great introduction to East African birds and wildlife (though lots of the forest birds failed to put in an appearance - shame.). Some pictures:

Verreaux's Eagle Owl in friend's garden

The best monkey out - Black and While Colobus

Juvenile Cinnamon-breasted Bee-eater

Long Crested Eagle

Grey Crowned Crane

Rufous-naped lark on buffalo skull!

Nighjar - I think Eurasian, but any other views?

Brown-hooded Kingfisher
NB Post nearly completed Friday before internet failed. It's now back on for at least a few seconds so I'm posting now anyway. Maybe more news from the weekend events will follow, but think I'll just do this whilst the going is good!

  1. Ha, that's nothing! You should see the blackbirds and sparrows in OUR garden. Okay, that is actually amazing. What beautiful birds, especially the crane and bee eater. Do you ever find special feathers?
